Frais /Fresh

　　法語的“frais”和英語的“fresh”都來自古日耳曼語，原意是“新鮮的，未經(jīng)鹽漬的”。作“費用”解的“frais”（fees）與作“新鮮”講的“frais”不是同源詞。法語的“frais”與“fraise”(草莓) 不是同源詞：它們沒有關系啦。

　　法語的“frais”和英語的“fresh”都保留了“新鮮”的意思，常可以互譯。

　　Exemple:

　　1.Ces oeufs ne sont pas très frais. Tu devrais les jeter.

　　These eggs are not very fresh. You ought to throw them away.

　　雞蛋不新鮮了。扔了吧。

　　2.Mes enfants adorent le pain frais.

　　My children love fresh bread.

　　我的孩子們喜歡新鮮面包。

　　3.Tu devrais manger plus de fruits (légumes) frais et moins de conserves.

　　You should eat more fresh fruit (vegetables) and less canned food.

　　你該多吃新鮮水果（蔬菜）少吃罐頭食品。

　　但法語的“frais”還有“涼爽, 涼快”的意思，常譯為英語的“cool, chilly”等。

　　Exemple:

　　1.Nous cherchions un endroit frais pour pique-niquer.

　　We were looking for a cool place to have a picnic.

　　我們想找個蔭涼好吃野餐。

　　2.C’est agréable, ce petit vent frais.

　　This cool breeze is rather nice.

　　陣陣涼風，可真爽呀。

　　在談到飲料時，法語的“frais”意為“冰鎮(zhèn)的”。所以，在飯館里吃飯時，如要喝“冰水”（chilled water），就要說“de l’eau fraîche”，而加冰塊的水則是“l’eau glacée”。

　　Exemple:

　　1.Il faudrait prévoir des boissons fraîches. Il va faire chaud.

　　It’s going to be hot. We must get in a supply of cold drinks.

　　天會很熱。該準備點冷飲。

　　2.Je donnerais n’importe quoi pour une bière bien fraîche.

　　I’d give anything for a nice cool /cold beer.

　　我愿意付出任何代價換取一杯冰鎮(zhèn)啤酒。

　　法語的“frais”也有“寒冷”的意思。

　　Exemple:

　　Mets ton manteau. Il fait frais ce matin.

　　Put your coat on. It’s a bit chilly this morning.

　　穿上外套。今早有點冷。

　　但法語的“frais”也有“冷淡，不友好”的意思，也可譯為英語的“cool, chilly”等。

　　Exemple:

　　1.Nous avons reçu un accueil très frais.

　　We received a very cool /chilly welcome.

　　我們遭到了冷遇。

　　2.Les relations entre ces deux pays sont plutôt fraîches.

　　The relations between the two countries are rather cool /chilly.

　　兩個國家之間的關系很僵（不友好）。

　　同樣的意思也可以用法語副詞“fraîchement”表示。

　　Exemple:

　　Le ministre a été accueilli assez fraîchement par la population rurale.

　　The minister was given a rather cool reception by the rural population.

　　部長在鄉(xiāng)下并不受當?shù)厝说臍g迎。

　　另一方面，英語的“fresh”除了“新鮮”的意思之外，還有“剛發(fā)生的，新來的”等意思。

　　Exemple:

　　1.Whenever a fresh government crisis hits the headlines, they all start clamouring for a new policy.

　　A chaque nouvelle crise gouvernementale, ils réclament tous un changement de politique.[/en

　　每當發(fā)生新的政府危機，他們就要求改變政策。

　　另外，英語的“fresh water”是“淡水”的意思, 一般譯為法語的“eau douce /potable”。

　　Les truites vivent en eau douce.
